Nouvelles Galeries Annecy

Innovation and culture in the heart of the Alps. Located between Lake Annecy, Chamonix and Geneva, Les Nouvelles Galeries d’Annecy have been making a name for themselves for 50 years. Transformed in 2022, the 24,000 sq. m. space features a hybrid offer: a department store, 30 retail outlets, leisure, health and food outlets. Our work consisted in combining the imperatives of preserving the building’s characteristics with those of reconfiguring the spaces to make them more suited to our times. Beyond retail, Nouvelles Galeries Annecy offers a model based on relationships, where the transaction is a consequence rather than an objective. A successful project that attracts 3 million visitors every year. A place of innovation and culture, they are the stage for pop-ups, artistic, cultural and sporting events.

Versailles 2024 Prize
The Nouvelles galeries d’Annecy restructuring and extension project was awarded the Prix Versailles 2024 in the Emporiums category. The prize recognizes the world’s finest achievements in architecture and design.
Manuelle Gautrand
First French architect to win the European Architecture Prize, reinterprets the exterior of the 1969 building with the idea of a new interaction with its environment. Promoted to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honour in April 2010, she was later elevated to the rank of Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters in December 2023.
David Thulstrup
Imagine the atmosphere of the inner street and squares, as well as the landscaped surroundings.
Sabine Marcelis
The Dutch designer was entrusted with the creation of the interior furniture.
